Building Bridges: FFI Executive Committee Hosts Wakiso District Sports Officer for Strategic Dialogue

KAMPALA, UGANDA – In a significant move towards strengthening local football administration and player welfare, the Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) Executive Committee hosted Mr. Ssenyonga, the Wakiso District Sports Officer, during their weekly strategic meeting held this past Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The engagement at the FFI offices marked the beginning of what promises to be a robust partnership between the initiative and the Wakiso District local government sports department.

During the session, Mr. Ssenyonga and the committee members exchanged views on the current state of football in the region. Key topics of discussion included methods to better utilize the vast technical experience of retired professionals to aid district teams and mechanisms to identify and support former footballers living within Wakiso who may require assistance.

Speaking during the engagement, the FFI leadership emphasized that government officials like Mr. Ssenyonga are vital allies in the mission to create a sustainable environment for both active and retired sportsmen.

This meeting served as a successful precursor to the next phase of this collaboration. It set the agenda for the FFI Executive Committee’s scheduled return visit to the Wakiso District Headquarters next Monday, where formal frameworks for cooperation will be further solidified.

"Hosting the District Sports Officer allowed us to align our visions before we take the discussion to the district headquarters," an FFI spokesperson noted. "It is a sign of mutual respect and a shared commitment to the development of the game."
