Our Story

Supporting Ugandan footballers in their journey beyond professional sports

Our Background

Football is the major sport and social activity in our country, existing from the 1940s to date and producing famous national heroes. However, despite their fame, many footballers faced significant challenges after retirement, as the sport in Uganda was historically based more on entertainment than income generation.

The Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) was established in 2015 to bridge this gap. We are a legally registered organization (Registration No: 80020003497656) as of April 12, 2022, with our home located at BMK House, Kampala.

We unite former players, fans, administrators, and well-wishers across all football regions; from Buganda to West Nile; without discrimination, provided they played with a FUFA license at any level.
