My Football Journey
My soccer journey began at Mugwanya Preparatory School Kabojja, where I first discovered both my passion and potential for the beautiful game. I joined the school team in Primary Four, a moment that marked the start of a lifelong relationship with football. At that young age, every training session felt like a new adventure, and every match deepened my love for the sport.
My next chapter unfolded at St. Henry’s College Kitovu. I joined the school team in Senior Two, and scoring on my debut remains one of my proudest early memories. That goal gave me confidence and cemented my place in the squad. Over time, I grew not just as a player but as a leader. In 2001, I had the honor of captaining the St. Henry’s team to victory in the prestigious De La Minnaise Tournament in Lubaga. This win was historic, we broke a decade-long drought to bring the trophy back to Kitovu.
In 2002, I joined Namilyango College, where I was entrusted with leading the school soccer team as captain in both 2002 and 2003. Those years strengthened my leadership skills and exposed me to competitive football at a higher level. Representing Namilyango and guiding the team on and off the pitch remains a highlight of my secondary school life.
After school competitions, I continued playing for my clan, Nakinsige, from 2004 to 2008. Clan football brought a different energy, passionate fans, cultural pride, and fierce competition. Those years kept me connected to my roots while sharpening my abilities.
When I joined Makerere University, my sports journey took on another dimension. I was elected Sports Minister of Mitchell Hall, a role that allowed me to inspire others, organize activities, and support fellow athletes. It was during this period that I realized how deeply I was drawn not only to playing sports but also to serving in sports leadership.
Football opened doors beyond the pitch. I joined Orient Bank because of football, a unique opportunity that showed me how far passion and talent can take a person. I even boarded my very first plane because of football, an unforgettable milestone that proved how powerfully the sport was shaping my life.
Over the years, I have participated in countless OBs galas and leagues, collecting numerous accolades and strengthening relationships with former schoolmates and fellow sports enthusiasts. These events were more than competitions, they were reunions, celebrations, and reminders of how sport binds people together.
All these experiences, from childhood pitches to college leadership, from clan tournaments to professional opportunities, molded me into the person I am today. They guided me steadily toward my calling in sports administration. Eventually, football led me to where I am proudly serving now: the District Sports Officer for Wakiso. Every step of the journey, every goal, every challenge, every team I led, prepared me for this role.
My story is proof that football is more than a game. It is a pathway, a teacher, a bridge, and a lifelong companion. And I remain grateful for every moment of the journey.
