Story
The story of Kizito
“One assist in Kisumu changed everything. That pass against KM FC remains one of my proudest contributions to Ugandan football.”
My Journey in Football: From School Captain to League Champion
Early Beginnings
My passion for football ignited during my primary school days at Sseguku Primary School, where I was honored to be selected as the captain of the school team. Although I briefly set aside the sport during my secondary education to focus on academics, the love for the game never left me.
Return to the Pitch
After completing my O-Levels, I enrolled at the then Nkumba College of Commerce (now Nkumba University) for a Diploma in Business Studies (UDBS). It was here that I resumed my football dreams. My senior career began at Nsambya FC, where I started as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Kenya’s Odhiambo Aman and the late Godfrey Kijongolo.
My determination saw me move to KCC FC (Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club) and later to Express FC. However, the defining moment of my career came when Nile Breweries FC recognized my talent and approached me. I seized the opportunity, not only for the football but also for the career prospects it offered; a decision that secured my future.
The Golden Era at Nile FC
At Nile FC, I played for three memorable years: 1978, 1979, and 1980. The pinnacle of our success came in 1980, when we made history by winning the National League title, becoming the first upcountry team to achieve this feat; a record that stands to this day.
In 1981, we represented Uganda in the East and Central African Club Championship held in Kisumu, Kenya. One of my proudest moments was providing the assist for the sole goal that secured our victory against KM FC of Zanzibar.
Service and Legacy
After the tournament in Kenya, I retired from active football to focus on my professional career. Now, at 73 years old, I continue to serve the game I love as the Publicity Secretary for the Former Footballers Initiative, working to unite and support legends of the sport.
