Former Footballers Initiative Calls Members to Crucial General Meeting to Chart Future Strategy

KAMPALA, UGANDA – The Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) today announced it will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at BMK House in Kampala. This crucial gathering will bring together members from across all football regions to review the organization's significant progress and make decisive choices on its future strategic direction.

The meeting comes at a pivotal time for the FFI, an organization established in 2015 and legally registered in 2022 with a mission to empower retired footballers socially and economically. For decades, many of Uganda's most talented players have faced immense hardship after their careers, grappling with unemployment, mental health struggles, and lack of sustainable income. This meeting aims to directly address these challenges through member-driven action and strategic planning.

Looking back, the FFI will highlight the successes of recent activities that have mobilized and united former players. These include the landmark first reunion held on December 2, 2023, which reinforced the need for networking and unity, and the launch of the FFI SACCO on March 1, 2025, an event graced by dignitaries including Gen. Katumba Wamala and representatives for the First Lady.

The core agenda will focus on the "Way Forward." Members will be presented with and asked to guide the implementation of ambitious sustainability projects, including:

A major agricultural project to grow palm oil on leased government land in Mayuge District, designed to create long-term revenue for members.

The expansion and strengthening of the member-owned SACCO to provide reliable financial services.

The introduction of new community engagement activities like a quiz competition.

"This meeting is more than an annual requirement; it is a declaration of our collective will to change the narrative for former footballers in Uganda," said Hajji Eng Ngobya Mubarak Isaac, Chairman of FFI. "We have built the pillars—from health and education to business—and now it is time for the members, the very heart of this initiative, to decide how we build upon them. Your voice and your vote will shape our legacy."

The FFI operates across all major football regions, including Buganda, Central, Kitara, Western, Eastern, Northern, West Nile, and Northeast regions, and welcomes all former footballers who held a FUFA license at any level.

All members are strongly urged to attend this meeting to contribute to the social and economic transformation of our community and ensure a well-managed life after a football career for every player.
