Launch of the Inaugural National Football League (NFL)
In 1968, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) officially established the National Football League (NFL), transitioning domestic club football from localized tournaments to a structured national championship. Eight clubs participated in the maiden division, with Prisons FC (Maroons) claiming the historic first league title under captain Parry Oketch. Express FC finished in fourth place, scoring 32 goals in 14 matches. The creation of the NFL transformed the competitive landscape and laid the groundwork for regional dominance
