KAMPALA – The Executive Committee of the Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) has issued a formal message of gratitude to the partners, sponsors, and the wider football fraternity as the year 2025 comes to a close.

In a statement released from the FFI Secretariat at BMK House, the leadership reflected on a year defined by structural growth, regional solidarity, and new strategic alliances aimed at improving the welfare of Uganda's football legends.

A Season of Milestones
2025 was a pivotal year for the initiative. We moved beyond simple advocacy to tangible action. Highlights included the historic solidarity tour to Kenya, the appointment of Pillar Heads to drive our Education and Business strategies, and the cementing of relationships with key government bodies, specifically the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and Wakiso District Local Government.

A Vote of Thanks
"None of these strides would have been possible without the '12th Man' - our partners," General Secretary John Kennedy Lubogo Mutatwala noted.

The FFI wishes to publicly recognize the invaluable support of:

  • The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development: For opening doors to social protection programs for our elderly legends.

  • Radio Simba: For amplifying our voice and keeping the agenda of former footballers on the airwaves.

  • Wakiso District Sports Office: For partnering with us to professionalize our Sports Pillar.

  • Our Donors and Well-wishers: To every individual who contributed to the medical bills of ailing members or supported the Munno Mukabbi welfare fund, your generosity saved lives and restored dignity.

Looking to 2026
As we break for the festive season, the FFI reiterates its commitment to the five strategic pillars: Health, Welfare, Education, Business, and Sports Development. The upcoming year promises to be one of implementation, with the operationalization of the FFI SACCO and other more projects coming up.

We wish our members, their families, and all Ugandans a Merry Christmas and a Blessed 2026.

For God and My Country.
