FFI Collects Kits for Tambula Mengo Run

KAMPALA – The Former Footballers’ Initiative (FFI) Treasurer collected official running kits on Friday, 14 August, ahead of the second edition of the Tambula Mengo Run.
The community event will take place at Mengo Senior School on Saturday, 15 August 2026, bringing together members of the school community, partners and well-wishers in support of its legacy projects. The organisers have confirmed the date through official event communications.
FFI Ready for the Run
The collected kits will enable FFI representatives to participate in the run and proudly represent Uganda’s former footballers.
FFI’s involvement demonstrates that the contribution of football legends extends beyond the pitch. Through community activities, former players continue to promote physical fitness, social responsibility and solidarity.
Promoting Wellness After Football
Participation in the Tambula Mengo Run also complements FFI’s commitment to improving Life After Football.
Regular physical activity, continued social engagement and participation in public causes can help retired players remain active, visible and connected to the communities they once represented.
The initiative further presents an opportunity for members of Uganda’s football fraternity, including veterans of The Cranes and players from different generations, to come together for a positive cause.
Strengthening Community Partnerships
FFI looks forward to joining the Mengo Senior School community and other participants at Saturday’s run.
Such partnerships reinforce the organisation’s mission of preserving the legacy of Uganda’s football heroes while creating new opportunities for fellowship, wellness and service.
