The Immaculate Double and CAF semi-final run

Under the guidance of Wankulukuku successor Jimmy Muguwa, Express FC reached the absolute peak of its domestic powers in 1995. By boosting the squad with key additions like impressive defender and Uganda U-17 captain Patrick Ntege and artful midfielder Willy Kyambadde, Muguwa engineered a historic league-and-cup "Double". Around this time, the oil giant GAPCO invested heavily in the club, providing a branded bus and signature lotto boots. The domestic double was matched by a spectacular continental run in the African Cup of Champions Clubs (now the CAF Champions League), where the Red Eagles stormed to the semi-finals before being agonizingly eliminated 2–1 on aggregate by South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
