Story

The story of Ashe

“From the grassroots fields of Katwe to the heights of the National Football League with SC Villa, every match and every club shaped a lifetime dedicated to the game I love.”
Ashe Kawooya

Ashe Kawooya began his football journey in the vibrant grassroots community of Katwe, Kampala, where his natural talent quickly stood out. While pursuing his studies at Kololo High School, he took a major step forward in his athletic career by joining Custodian Football Club in 1977. His consistent performances and growing reputation led him to the top tier of Ugandan football in 1979 when he signed with Lint Marketing Board Football Club, a prominent first-division side.

Continuing his rise through the domestic leagues, Kawooya made a high-profile move in 1983 to SC Villa, one of the country's most successful and storied clubs, where he played a crucial role until 1986. Following his successful spell with the Jogoo, he transferred to Bell F.C., anchoring his career in the top flight until his eventual retirement from competitive football in 1988.
